Injection mortar and chemical anchor resin
Injection mortar is a two-component resin you inject with a gun into a drilled hole, after which a threaded rod or anchor bolt is chemically bonded in place. Unlike a mechanical expansion anchor it creates no expansion force in the material, so you can fix closer to an edge or a joint and also work in cracked concrete, hollow brick and aerated concrete. In masonry with voids, use a sieve sleeve so the mortar does not run away and the anchor is still fully encased.
The choice turns on three things: the substrate, the load and the cure time. Check which resin chemistry a cartridge uses, since they differ in bond strength and in how they behave against moisture. On structural applications look for an ETA approval and for the stated values on hole depth, edge distance and spacing. Cure time rises steeply at low temperatures, so in frost allow longer before loading.
Blow or brush the hole free of dust and fit a fresh static mixer per cartridge. Combine the mortar with the right anchor rod, or look at anchoring for mechanical alternatives.
