Abrasive discs for sanding and surface finishing
A sanding disc is the consumable that decides how fast a surface comes flat and how good it looks when it does. Diameter follows the machine, with 115 mm and 125 mm covering handheld random orbital sanders and angle grinder backing pads, and the hole pattern has to line up with the pad so extraction actually pulls dust out of the cut instead of loading the abrasive.
Grit is a sequence, not a single choice. Coarse grades strip paint, level filler and take down weld spatter, medium grades remove the scratches the coarse step left behind, and fine grades prepare a surface for primer, stain or polish. Skipping a stage costs more time in the finish than it ever saves in the sanding.
Match the abrasive grain to the material as well, since a grain that cuts steel cleanly will clog on softwood or resin filler. For long straight runs and edge work a sanding belt is faster, and the full sanding, sharpening, polishing and deburring range covers everything around it.
