Roller chain for drive and conveyor applications

Roller chain transmits drive between sprockets in conveyors, agricultural machines, packaging lines and workshop equipment, and the pitch decides everything else. Simplex chain handles single-strand drives at moderate load, while duplex chain doubles the roller rows to carry more torque within the same pitch, which matters when a redesign has to stay inside the existing sprocket centres. Pitches run from 3/8 inch up to 1 inch and come in fixed lengths, so a run can be cut to the exact centre distance on site.

Selection starts with the pitch and strand count already on the machine, then working load and speed. Check the sprocket tooth profile before ordering, because mixing an imperial pitch with a metric sprocket wears both out fast. Plan the joining method at the same time: a connecting link closes the loop without a press. Lubrication and correct sag settle chain life more than material grade does, so set the tension with the drive cold and recheck it after the first hours of running. Part of the wider chains range.
