MS polymer adhesives and sealants

MS polymer is a hybrid adhesive sealant that bonds and seals in the same operation. It cures with the humidity in the air and stays elastic afterwards, so the joint absorbs movement in the material instead of tearing. That makes it usable on metal, wood, stone, concrete and most plastics, including places where a classic assembly adhesive gives up.

When choosing, look first at adhesion and at whether the product can be overpainted. Adhesion on damp or lightly contaminated surfaces differs per product, so read the technical data sheet before you press the part home, and degrease and abrade where the sheet asks for it. Overpaintability is decisive as soon as the joint stays visible in the finish. Colour and packaging come after that: the usual format is a 310 ml cartridge, and 290 ml also exists.

Where the job is purely sealing and no bond strength is needed, silicone stays the cheaper choice. The wider range sits under adhesives and sealants.
