Lifelines for anchoring when working at height

A lifeline connects the user's harness to an anchor point. It is personal protective equipment, so check the line before every use for cuts, abrasion and deformation of the hooks, and take it out of service the moment there is any doubt.

The versions here are made from 11 mm kernmantle rope, in lengths from around 1 to 10 m. Choose single or twin leg first. With a twin leg line you move while permanently attached, because you clip the second connector on before releasing the first. That counts as soon as you climb along a structure or pass a scaffold.

Look at the shock absorber next. Without an absorber a line is meant for work positioning or guiding and not for arresting a free fall, and that distinction decides whether the set-up is correct. The connectors finally have to suit whatever is available to anchor to on site. Tractel and REMA supply the range.
