Hardeners and curing pastes for two-component systems

A hardener is the second component that starts the reaction in a two-component adhesive, sealant or coating. Without the right ratio between base and hardener the product stays soft, or it cures so fast that no working time is left. The mixing ratio and the stated pot life therefore decide the result more than the name on the packaging does.

The range runs from curing paste in a tube through to liquid hardeners in a tin or a bottle for polyurethane and acrylate systems. Always take the hardener the manufacturer specifies for the base product: coloured pastes are not interchangeable, even when they look alike. Check the working temperature and the remaining shelf life as well, because an opened pack reacts more slowly and cures less predictably.

Loctite, Soudal, Teroson and Zwaluw each supply the hardeners that belong with their own adhesives, sealants and fillers, so keep base and hardener together within one system. Pack sizes run from a 50 g tube up to a one litre tin, so a single repair and a production run are both covered. If you apply the mixture with a gun, the matching nozzle versions sit in the neighbouring group.
