Mounting rails of 3 m with consoles for wall and ceiling

A mounting rail is the profile within rails and mounting that carries pipework, ducting and equipment off the wall, the ceiling or the floor. You fix the rail once and then slide nuts, clamps and consoles along its full length, instead of drilling and plugging again for every single support point.

That difference counts on installation work. Plumbing, heating, cooling and air ducts rarely run exactly where the first drawing put them, and a rail of 3 m gives the play to correct afterwards. The load is also spread over several anchor points rather than a single plug, which makes the construction more predictable.

Choose profile and length on the load that will hang from it. A light profile is enough for conduit and thin pipe, heavier profiles carry filled water pipes and ductwork. Consoles set the rail away from the wall, so there is room left for insulation or for a second layer of pipes behind it. The projection then governs how much weight a console takes: the further from the wall, the lower the permitted load. Check that figure before you fix the spacing between two support points.
