Lamello's original wooden slat is the proven joining solution of the system's inventor. Since its invention in 1955, the lamello, also known as a flat dowel, has been used millions of times to join wooden workpieces. The success of the wooden slat is due to its simple, fast application, stable, high-quality connection, large longitudinal tolerance and minimal weakening of the material which is important for sheet materials. The original guarantees quality in the form of dimensional stability, optimum glue distribution, shape stability and high fracture resistance. Native, sustainable beech wood is supplied from the vicinity of the Bubendorf production site, where it is carefully sorted and processed. During stamping, the thickness of the wooden slats is checked several times an hour to ensure the right fit for the application. Thanks to this precise fit, the wooden slats fit easily into a 4 mm groove and do not fall out when the workpiece is turned over during assembly. The slightly raised guides on the flat dowel reduce resistance when sliding in and keep the joining element in the groove. The recessed surface is intended to provide a stronger compressed glue surface on which the glue can spread. As the glue cures, the wooden slat in the glued area expands further for an even more stable joint. The diagonal grain also ensures a very high fracture resistance. The rounded, smooth edges simplify insertion and increase comfort during work.
