Festool orbital sanders for the final sanding pass
A Festool orbital sander is the tool for the last stretch of finishing: flat surfaces, edges and corners that a random orbital sander cannot reach. The rectangular pad runs right into the corner of a frame or a panel, and the orbital motion leaves no swirl marks under a coat of lacquer or stain. At 250 W a sander of this class has enough power for sanding between primer and lacquer coats and for smoothing solid wood before the final coat.
Choose on pad size and on the way the abrasive is fixed, because that decides how fast you change grit during a finishing round. Pay particular attention to dust extraction. Finish sanding produces fine dust that clogs the abrasive and settles in a coat that is still wet, so a machine that connects straight to an extractor works cleaner and the paper lasts longer. Versions supplied in a Systainer fit the rest of your Festool storage.
For fast stock removal over a large surface the Festool belt sander is quicker. The full range is under Festool sanding, grinding and polishing.
