Abrasive star

Abrasive stars are small star-shaped fleece grinders with a thread, for fine grinding and finishing metal in places an ordinary disc cannot reach. They are used in metalworking to clean surfaces, remove light scratches and give an even matt or satin look.

They are PFERD POLINOX fleece grinders with an 8-32 UNC thread, screwed onto a matching holder in a straight grinder. Choose the diameter by the space you work in: Ø 19 and 25 mm for narrow slots and small cavities, Ø 38 and 50 mm for somewhat larger surfaces. The grit sets the finish. A80 removes the most, A100 sits in the middle and A280 gives the finest finish.

A common method is to work in two steps: first a coarser grit to remove marks, then A280 for the final finish. These stars belong to the wider sanding, sharpening, polishing and deburring range, which also holds fleece wheels and abrasives for larger surfaces.
