The 3M Cubitron II Roloc Disc 984F is a superior solution for metalworking applications that require flexibility, such as grinding welds, chamfering, flame-cut edges and deburring.
To save time and increase production, our 3M Cubitron II Roloc Disc 984F combines the convenience of the 3M Roloc Quick Change System with 3M's proprietary Precision Shaped Grain (PSG) technology, which ensures excellent cutting performance and long disc life. Because PSG enables exceptionally high cutting speeds with less pressure, users can complete tasks faster while the work is lighter. The heat-activated grinding additive on the discs makes this an excellent product for any type of metal. The disc remains cooler on stainless steel and heat-sensitive metals such as nickel alloys and titanium. Discolouration and oxidation of the metal is therefore reduced, as is the risk of heat-related stress cracking. Our 984F disc has a two-layer YF-weight water-resistant polyester backing for extra durability. A grinding aid keeps the disc cooler on stainless steel and heat-sensitive metals such as nickel alloys and titanium.
Our engineers used the 3M Ceramic Grinding Grit as a starting point to create PSG. Using our proprietary technology, the grains were made into triangular structures, which were electrostatically placed as sharp triangles on the back of the material. The resulting sharp dots ensure optimum cutting action. These sharp points cut smoothly like a knife through butter, instead of grooving or ploughing as traditional abrasives do. The points break off by themselves, constantly creating new sharp points. This ensures super-fast cutting action and less heat generation from friction. Heat-related stress cracks and discolouration are reduced as a result. PSG wears evenly and because the abrasive remains cool and sharp, Cubitron II products last significantly longer than their conventional ceramic counterparts. These products deliver long-term high performance in production applications.
