3M heavy duty duct tape 3939 has the tensile strength and adhesion for welding, masking, repairing, sealing seams, hanging plastic film and many other industrial applications.
3M Heavy Duty Duct Tape 3939 is made of a water-resistant polyethylene laminated on textile reinforcement and backed by an aggressive natural rubber adhesive. The tape is high-tack and adaptable. Our tape tears easily and neatly, horizontally or vertically. Industrial applications include hanging polyethylene tarpaulins for containment, masking and overspray protection against sandblasting. It is also used in the convention industry for holding and sewing carpet padding, cord taping and hinged poster board panels. 3M Heavy Duty Duct Tape 3939 can be used at temperatures up to 200 degrees F. It has been tested for burns according to methods UL 723, ASTM E-84, NFPA 255, UBC 8-1. The results were Flame Spread Index 0, Smoke Developed Index 30. Duct tape (sometimes mistakenly called "duck tape") is a toolbox mainstay used in maintenance, repair and construction work. The term "duct tape" comes from the original use of silver tape in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) applications, including duct sealing. Today, it works wherever patching, bundling, reinforcing, tabbing, splitting insulation, sealing pipe and duct ends, labelling, temporary repairs, hanging polyethylene or protection from light sandblast overspray is needed. Duct tape is used in residential, industrial and commercial environments and by workers in the construction, electrical, industrial, marine and military, combat, trucking and automotive markets.
