Inner brushes for bores, tubes and drilled holes

A pipe brush, also called an inner brush, cleans and deburrs the inside of bores, tubes and drilled holes. You fit it to a straight grinder or a drill and let the wire do the work: rust, weld slag, casting residue and old coating come off without removing material the way a cutter does. For brushing out drilled holes in concrete before a chemical anchor goes in, there are separate versions.

Match the diameter to the bore. A brush that is too small barely touches the wall, one that is too large binds and loses wire. Take it a fraction larger than the bore, so the wire bears with light preload.

Then choose the wire material. Stainless steel wire leaves no rust-forming particles behind and is the right choice on stainless steel and aluminium. Brass wire is softer and works on softer metals without scratching. Wire diameter sets how aggressive the brush is, running from around 0.15 mm for finishing to 0.30 mm for firm removal work. Finally check the mounting, which runs from metric threads such as M6 to inch threads such as 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch BSW. Other sanding tools sit one level up, including the hand sanding pad.
